Connie Walker,
F.V.A.S.
| Connie was born in Redcliffs, Victoria, and
studied art under Carol Boothman, David Taylor, Ken McFadyen, Erica
McGilchrist and Alfred Calkoen. She was
Foundation Secretary of the WAS and a committee member for nine
years. She also served as President in 1980 and '81. In 1982 she was
elected a life member of the WAS. She has also held appointments in
the Victorian Artists' Society and served on the Art Acquisitions
Committee of the Waverley City Council, and is a member of many
Victorian and Australian art societies. She has acted as judge at
numerous art shows.
Connie has held a number of solo exhibitions in
addition to taking part in many group exhibitions. Special
commissions include six paintings for the Sorrento Sailing Club's
presentation to the Little America's Cup Series, 1976.
Her work hangs in private collections
throughout Australia and overseas, and is represented in the head
office of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Amcor
Melbourne, the SEC Credit Union head office, Dun and Bradstreet
(Aust) P/L New York, in the permanent collection of the Victorian
Artists' Society and in the collections of various hospitals and
city councils in Victoria.
Connie's work is mentioned in a number of art
books and publications, including "Artists and Galleries of
Victoria" (Max Germaine), "Australian Watercolour Painters" (Jean
Campbell) and "50 Australian Artists" (John Mutsaers), to name but a
few.

Rosemary has had an interest in art for many years. Her
favourite medium is watercolour, introduced to her by her first teacher,
C. Dudley Wood, a wonderful, if somewhat underrated watercolour artist.
Subject matter is varied though she has a passionate
love for horses, receiving her first commission to paint a horse in 1998
and first racehorse in 2003. She has received numerous commissions to
paint dogs.
Exhibited in many exhibitions and has won a few awards
including Best Watercolour (of horses) . She also was a Guest Artist at
the 2003 Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival.
