Barry was born in Melbourne and commenced watercolour
painting over 20 years ago.
Important influences on his work have come from leading
watercolour tutor David Taylor, under whom Barry studied for several years,
and from workshops and tutorials from other major Australian
watercolourists, including Joseph Zbuvic, Ron Muller, Amanda Hyatt and
Malcolm Beattie.
Barry particularly enjoys painting the tranquil water
scenes around Metung, St Kilda and Williamstown and the busy Melbourne
streetscapes where he spent much of his working life.
He has held several solo and group exhibitions and has won
numerous awards, including the Dean's Art Encouragement award for Best
Watercolour at the Camberwell Rotary Art Show in 2003.
